Bali is a small vacation paradise

Impressive places

Bali offers much more than beaches and luxury resorts, the tropical jewel of Indonesia and one of the most popular exotic destinations for active vacations.

This gem is a province of Indonesia and the westernmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands. East of Java and west of Lombok, the province includes the island of Bali and several smaller neighboring islands, notably Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan in the southeast.

This place is part of the Coral Triangle, an area with the greatest biodiversity of marine species, especially fish and turtles. Over 500 species of reef-building coral can be found in this area alone.

Bali has a fairly uniform climate throughout the year. The average temperature throughout the year is about 30 °C (86 °F) and humidity about 85%, but temperatures drop significantly with increasing altitude.

The tourism industry is primarily focused in the south, while also significant in the other parts of the island. The prominent tourist locations are the town of Kuta (with its beach), and its outer suburbs of Legian and Seminyak (which were once independent townships), the east coast town of Sanur (once the only tourist hub), Ubud towards the centre of the island, to the south of the Ngurah Rai International Airport, Jimbaran and the newer developments of Nusa Dua and Pecatu.

As much as I enjoy visiting the popular spots while travelling, I much rather searching for slightly lesser known areas to avoid the crowds. I found this little temple somewhere online, so while I was in the North of Bali I thought I’d have a looksy one morning to see if I could find it. Got up way too early and drove out into the middle of nowhere, passing high into above the clouds and through local towns and markets coming to life as the sun rose. Got to enjoy this little lakeside temple with a couple of friendly locals who were excited to show me around. Not another tourist in sight.

Four years ago, the sun was about to set when I arrived at this beach famous for its dinosaur. I also hit my foot on a rock and hurt it pretty bad. Plus the fences around here were much more primitive back then. Havent been down to the beach for these reasons. I promised myself that Ill come back to Indonesia and land on this beach. Made it again but it was almost dark again. And we might have missed the ferry back to Bali. Plus it was raining a lot. The floors were slippery. Well again i cant get off. Now I am making a new promise; on my third visit I will get down to this beach and swim to the fullest :) probably in February 2023.. but who knows🤷🏻 ♂️ 📍Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida, Indonesia

Gili islands (gili air, gili meno, gili trawangan) belong to Lombok province not Bali for example Nusa Penida 🌊 I put them in the guide though (link in bio). 💚 The islands are in such a position in relation to volcanoes that the sand on them is white, not volcanic black. Unfortunately, there are lots of dead reef on the beaches that are uncomfortable to walk on. 💚 The prevailing religion in Gili is Islam, not Hinduism like in Bali. There is no magical island or the smell of incense here. The islands are small so you can hear a call to prayer in every place. Also this at 4 in the morning 😅 I recommend packing your plugs. 💚 There is no motor transport here. The only means of transport are bicycles and horse carts, but the welfare of the horses is questioned. Seen some scooters/electric bikes this year. 💚 There is not a single dog on the Gili islands (and Lombok). Dogs are banned because of religion. Its a land of cats. 💚 Nothing grows on Gila, residents import almost everything from Lombok. You wont experience the lush greenery of Bali here. It rains less for that! 💚 On Gila, the accommodations are much more modest, most of them are wooden houses or glampings. This is due to lack of motor transport = difficulties in construction. The hotel in the video is one of the most luxurious properties on the island of Gili T. 💚 You can see big turtles on these islands. They can even be found in very shallow water, so even if you cant swim, its no problem. There are cold currents around Bali, so turtles prefer to stick to Gila. On the other hand, mantas swim mainly in colder water in Nusa and Bali. 💚 Lombok lies behind the Australian climate line, you can find Lombok and Gilis... other lets say .. spiders. But Ive only seen this monster once so no worries. Did I forget something ? 😅 What surprised you the most?

It s great news. Generally, there are other beautiful places besides Bali to see, but it is one of the tourist s paradises.
