Its hard to imagine that someone as tough as Bruce Willis could be affected by something as debilitating as dementia. But thats exactly what his family has announced.
The actor, known for roles in Die Hard, Armageddon and Pulp Fiction, is currently in the early stages of the disease. His daughter Scout has said that hes "not the dad we grew up with," and his wife Emma has noted that hes become forgetful and sometimes says things that dont make sense. Despite the challenges posed by Bruces diagnosis, his family is hopeful that hell be able to continue acting. In the meantime, theyre adjusting to this new reality and supporting him every step of the way.

His work in Pulp Fiction is considered one of the greatest films of all time, and Williss performance was widely praised. Willis has also appeared in comedies, dramas, and thrillers throughout his career. He has been nominated for several Golden Globe Awards and has won one.

Our family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce’s original diagnosis. In the spirit of that, we wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father and friend since we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing. Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis. Emma Willis, Bruces wife, has said that he is "forgetful" and "sometimes says things that dont make sense". This is not the husband she married. She described how the family is struggling to come to terms with the news. Emma said that Bruce has become more reclusive and doesnt want to leave the house. She also said that he sometimes says things that dont make sense. The family is hopeful that he will be able to continue acting.
